Time to get this party started... (again...)
-
@Hayden
On an (almost?) related note, are we going to have the wiki put back up? -
Well, I'm still trying to build this one.
-
@Gameuser10
Well if he puts it up we can just pull all of the information over. -
-
@Hayden Oh yeah, tried to make my own wiki. Turns out you need to have a computer/server to store everything in it, but I guess that's easy to guess and that it'll actually be easy.
-
I do like minimalist. I love the way this forum looks.
Me no smart enough to think about wiki's tho, so I'll let you guys decide
-
@Judas I guess someone has to store everything, and others can just send materials'n'stuff to the server/computer/storage/whatever.
And yeah, minimalist design... I love it. Feels so clean, so... small.
So, we've got to describe units first, I think. Especially agressors should be first in my opinion.
-
@Encrypted
I'm sure Hayden has us covered. He looks down through the clouds from Internet paradise to bring us the gift of unlimited diskspace and bandwidth. :D
-
@Hayden
Yeah minimalist wiki would be great. I looked at MediaWiki and I'm for it unless some wiki expert knows more. :pAlso, would we want this to be called WiredForWar wiki or Machines wiki? Because if it's just going to be based on the game, I think we should just call it Machines wiki. But that's just my opinion. Majority rules? :)
-
@bilal If it's "just going to be based on the game", then I would definitely add the "Wired for War" part. How many games are there with "Machines" in it? Also, just as a general way of classifying the game, because "Machines" on itsself is kinda... broad and covers many (unrelated) topics...
My 2 cents.
Also HOLY SHIT JUDAS WHAT UP DAWG! Awesome to have you back ^^
-
@StonerHate
Because the game is called Machines, not Wired for War. If the wiki is called "Wired For War" wiki, that implies that it's about the website, and includes content for machines (Which would be a perfect name in my opinion if that is the intent for the wiki). I'm talking about semantics to ensure clarity of what the subject is, not just what would sound nice.P.S.: What do you mean add the wired for war part? I meant "Wired For War Wiki" vs "Machines Wiki."
-
@bilal Know what, I'll throw my own suggestion here.
Machines: Wired for War and Machines: Wired for War Ultimate Wiki
The best source of knowledge 'bout silicon machines!
-
Wired for War sounds better in my opinion. Plus it's what this site is called.
I'm for Wired for War ;D
-
Like I said, majority vote is cool, and it seems most people would prefer wfw anyway. Plus I was probably being too persnickety about something simple. I would love to have it up though because there is some information I would prefer to store there rather than in google docs etc.
-
@bilal I meant, take "Machines: Wired for War" as a whole. Not just "Machines". Not just "Wired For War".
"Machines: Wired for War". The entire thing. After all, the "Wired for War" IS a part of the name. No? Also, every other game-Wiki, in my experience, always has the entire name in their Wiki-name =)
-
@StonerHate No, wired for war is not part of the name AFAIK.
-
@bilal Oh, well. Damn. Seems like you're right. All this time, I thought it was ^^ Then I can understand your point. But still. "Machines: Wired for War" sounds fine by me.
Actually, it doesn't really matter all that much, in hindsight =P
-
@StonerHate
Haha, yeah agreed. -
Alright guys I'll get a wiki running soon. Trying to find something more minimalist than MediaWiki... Open to suggestions.
-
I looked through most of the wikis listed on this wikipedia page. Most of them looked really dated. Good luck finding something better than MediaWiki.
