TRIED THE PATCH 1.5. IT WORKS LIKE A DREAM........WANTED TO PLAY THIS GAME FOR SO LONG...I BOUGHT THE ORIGINAL TWO CDS WAY BACK IN 2002 WHEN I HAD PENTIUM 3 WITH 128 MB RAM...IT WAS SO AHEAD OF ITS TIME. I AM FROM INDIA AND EVEN TILL NOW I HAVE YET TO COME ACROSS ANYONE PERSONALLY WHO ADMIRES THE GAME. THANKS A TONNE.GOD BLESS YOU !!

So the game works great and runs really smoothly. However, for whatever reason the game will not let me make save files and restarts my profile every time I exit the game. I am running the Windows 64-bit version on a Windows 10 machine. As this was a clean install, I did not have the vanilla version of the game installed before this one.

This is becoming an issue because my progress on the campaign is restarted every time I open the game.

@Hepativore Where do you have the game installed?
Windows might prevent the game from writing files if it is installed under C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) - I would suggest moving it to C:\Games or similar, if that is the case.

I did as you suggested and it seems to work. Ever since my computer forced me to upgrade to Windows 10 I have hated it as I hate not being able to write to the Program Files folder by default unless you go messing around with profile permissions and so on.

Anyway, thank you for your help this quickly. I was afraid that I would be waiting awhile as there do not seem to be that many active users on the Machines forum anymore.

Unfortunately I am experiencing the black screen problem on ati radeon video card with catalyst driver. No pictures, just sounds. it's a known issue (I read the readme file) but ... HELP!

Where are the Source code of this patch or the new ported Machines Engine to Open GL? There are a Github repo to contribute or help in the dev?

i got the Patched game download, and copyed all this assets in the machines folder, but the game stops at the splash screen before Loading strip gets over the N in the title Machines.

Is there a way to replay this game on a new machine?

My PC:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600x
RTX 2060 6gb
DDR4 3000mhz 32gb ram
WIN 11

BTW the patched game works, but with awefull stutters and invisible black textures.

@Vasja1st the original Machines files (patched or otherwise) should not be used with Machines 1.5.

Make a new folder, e.g. C:\Games\Machines 1.5\, and extract the Machines 1.5 game assets and windows native executable 64-bit .7z archives into that.

@m123 Great, so ok it works better now, but still.
Im getting TEXTURE pop in and out of existance depending on point of view.

And the game randomly crashes, it crashes the most on Meridia Skrimish map.

@vasja1st Yeah, that missing terrain issue seems to affect everyone, as far as I know.

I don't think I've experienced any crashes, but my overall playtime in Machines 1.5 is pretty low.

i tested it and one issue i found is that i am unable to select fullhd ingame because the number of resolutions is too high for the list. a solution to that would be to make the list scrollable. i am also unable to get it to run in windows 10 on one of my pcs, because it can not select a resolution of 640x480. i suggest just fixing that issue.
