Running the game in 8.1?

Is there an xp patch for the game? I have windows 8.1 but I've heard that if I were to put an xp patch onto the game and change the compatibility to the xp pack 3, it would work - I did manage to get it working but it lags a little and part of the graphic designs of buildings don't show up as well as the sound files not playing properly.
Anybody able to help?

Hi! In the How to get up and running thread there is a discussion involving your issue. You might find what you need there (In windows 7 it works fine, but apparently windows 8 causes some problems).
