Machines: The Game

@hungy69 I haven't heard of the sound effects not working for anyone, but the music does not play for me unless I keep my physical disc 1 inside of the disc drive.

Hello
After a long search I finally found a proper DL version of this mighty awesome game.
I bought this game on pc back in '99 but unfortunately both discs were lost when moving out. Still bummed out about this.
Now that I'm trying to get it up and running a small problem occurred.
I've mounted disc one and followed setup instructions. At 80% setup asked for disc 2.
After doing this setup reached 100% and did a directx update.
I thought YAAYY IT'S GO TIME but my pc said nonono hombre I won't cooperate.
An error popped on my screen, showing me a "incorrect installation" messsage.
Does anyone know how to fix this please?
Doing a re-install didn't really help, weird thing about it is that this time I got a different error.
Telling me machines.exe is missing and a problem in machines path.
Installing the machines XP patch and d3drm.dll file didn't fix it.
Due to my basic pc knowledge I ran out of options.

@Han-Nas
Hello! I noticed that you are using Windos10. @M123 provided us with a troubleshooting guide, have you tried it? Here is the link:

hey guys! I have a problem with machines...i install it, it's working, but after 10 minutes of playing i get a "yellow screen" and i can't see nothing even the game is still runing.
i have windows xp
video card: nVidia Geforce 9400 gtPlease help! I spend couple years to get this game, i really want to play it!
-
That's a strange one... Hmm...
What version of the nVidia GeForce drivers are you using?
I remember some older versions had a memory leak in certain situations which could cause issues similar to what you describe.Maybe try running the game at a different resolution, see if there's any change in behaviour (try highest and lowest available resolutions).

OMG! it works, i can't belive this! thank you so much!!!! <3

@lowowlow
Glad it worked out :)What did the trick, specifically? (in case someone else runs into the same issue)

Ребят, здрасте. У меня вопрос: Почему перестал работать звук в игре, она начала лагать жёстко, и видео перестало показывать перед загрузкой меню?

"Guys, hello . I have a question : Why stopped working sound in the game , she began to lag severely , and the video is no longer show before loading the menu ?"
Sound or just music?
You can try this:
http://wiredforwar.org/topic/77/machines-and-windows-10/14In my case, I applied the compatibility mode for Windos 98, but with one of the new .dll files. Now the game runs almost smooth (perfect gameplay).
Also, look for the last update posted by @M123.

@AvionAris Same here, no patch, no DLL needed for Win 7.

Hello guys, is this version playable on multiplayer mode??
if yes how to procceed , i tried to use Hamachi but can't find the other player.. -
@potters
Yes, it works great. I tried to play through LAN and with Tunngle. Check your Hamachi settings. -
@potters You need to direct join an IP after the person with that IP hosts a match, and you've both joined the same Hamachi room.
-
You can also try the https://www.gameranger.com/ software. It supports Machines.

Hello. When I run the game it works perfectly, I do not use the autorun item, as it does not work. I start the game from the application labelled 'machines' and it skips the start menu, but that's not to do with my question. Hayden's instructions do not use the disk 1 iso that he supplied, and seeing as it works, that's ok. But I was wondering, can I burn the disk 1 and 2 iso's to hard disks and install the game the way it was meant to be? I also assumed this might fix the fact there is no music, as I assume that is on disk 2 but cannot be used unless its a hard copy? Either way, it would be great to know, as it saves me trying and failing, but if it does work, it would be great to have a hard copy in English, seeing as I cant speak Italian and that's all I've got. Turns out the English version is hard to come by. Thanks.

@Warharvest_
you can play the music in the background with a music player of your choice :) just get the soundtrack from here: Machines OST.I have the original discs and still the music won't play.
-
@X-Lord
Yeah I've been doing that. It seems strange your originals don't play the music? When I play the game I've installed from here with disk 2 in, it plays the music. Unfortunately it makes the game become Italian, which I don't want. -
@Warharvest_
If you have some spare time and a blank CD you can try following these instructions to make a copy of CD2 with (hopefully) working music using files available from wiredforwar.org. As far as I know, it should be the English version...@X-Lord
Is Machines set to run in a compatibility mode? Some compatibility modes break the CD audio.
