Pink artefacts and weird resolutions.
-
On my fullHD screen, only 800x600 shows a semi-decent output. Also, after accessing the "Options" menu, all in-game text is surrounded by pink artefacts (pink boxes). Am I the only one getting this?
Windows 10 x64, native resolution 1920x1080.

@asdama What compatibility settings are you using? (Windows XP SP2, SP3, Windows 95?) I got the pink artifacts after going into options too, but only until I exited the game after changing my screen resolution to 1920x1080 as well. I currently have the game set to compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2, under properties, and am also on Windows 10.

The pink boxes might be a direct play issue. I recently bought a copy of Machines and installed everything, and got the pink boxes, but I also had a notification from windows saying that the game required Direct Play, and it installed it through the same notification window. After restarting, the boxes were gone, but the frame rate of Machines on Windows 8 is very low so it's pretty much unplayable anyway.
Also, I did uncheck the restrict resolution box, and I changed the resolution to 1920x1080 before restarting, but I don't think those had anything to do with it.

@asdama
I have the same problem :( -
I posted a possible solution here: http://wiredforwar.org/topic/77/machines-and-windows-10/14
(just edited in some extra info and possible fixes in case it doesn't work initially)@bilal I think the problems are DirectDraw related - DirectDraw emulation apparently performs poorly on Windows 8 and up. Using dgVoodoo (see above link) seems to bypass these issues by wrapping the game's rendering to DirectX 11.
DirectPlay was used for networking. -
@M123
Ah, probably would have been a good idea to read about what Direct Play was a framework for then, haha. Weird that my rectangles disappeared, then.
