      Friendly fire is a risk if you dont plan your attacks the right way. And honestly, I gave up on skirmishes a long time ago, I ALWAYS win, there's no real challenge. I recommend you start at a lower tech level, it seems your enemies don't ever catch up to you tech wise. I've attacked with advanced weaponry and they're still way behind, I just blow em right up. One of my only complaints about the game is the lack of any real fun in the skirmishes. I use them to experiment. LOL Maybe you cant build nukes in The Controller, but for some idiotic reason you can build an aerial factory, underground, which is basically useless.

      Yes, that suicide attack strategy works very well, I left out the thing about going BEHIND the factories like that in first person which works out well. If you enter the fortress from the west (I assume thats what you meant) that big rocket turret is there but its really easy to take it out with that sqaud of knights. The medium factories to the east are only guarded with a single missile turret and I have been able to decoy it into firing on the factory lol.

      You know, now that I think of it, the enemy doesnt have or build even a locator beacon... am I correct? That would explain the ion cannon. Then again, in Military Fortress you dont have a locator beacon and you can see through FOW where youve been.... interesting.

      Sometimes the scripting gives or takes an advantage away from either side. E.g., Take the Pass, where you can't build SAM's because that would obliterate the wasp attacks. Or Research Facility where you can't build knights... or any builders :-)

      The very last mission is challenging. My refined strategy is to press directly west from the starting point once the base has been established (smelter & a few scavengers to continue building Judas' and warlords/commandants with healing ability) with a Judas and capture as you go, killing reapers and saving anything you can capture. I send vortex singularity units to the smelter because they often kill my own units.

      Once you press West, you attack the civilian factories and have a few captured units hang out there to kill any constructors that try to rebuild them. Soon all constructors will be destroyed, making it impossible for the enemy to replenish any destroyed factories.

      Once the constructor population withers, I send in a strike team that destroys the four light infantry factories directly North-North-East of the starting point. This is usually done with a first person Gorilla that I capture, and the strike is done by masterfully toggling between the different weapons systems by pressing Tab and hitting one building with missiles while punching another. That will severely reduce the amount of pressure the main area experiences.

      From that point on, if the Gorilla survives, I'll continue north and start destroying bases until he is killed.

      Then I switch to the southeast front and press north in a clockwise fashion, capturing units as they are built from factories and using them to attack the factories while I press on in my Judas.

      It takes a while and a lot of micromanaging using the Pause button, but I believe this strategy is one of the most effective.

      That did it! I was not looking in the right place in the registry, it turns out. I was then able to return the game to a usable resolution. Funny thing, though - the "Lock Resolution" button doesn't stay unchecked...??? No problems now though. I was in the middle of a hot and heavy round of "Behind Enemy Lines" and restored my saves and now am able to resume hostilities. Thanks a million for the advice! And now there's a forum post people can refer back to in same situation. LOVE machines - LOVE this forum!!!

      @wildh0rse I usually do this:

      Build lots of factories so I won't run dry of infantry, and even if I do I can produce more machines fast. I don't really care about the Wasps, they can be easily killed if you have a few Knights and even more Reapers. Eventually if you do bizarre moves with your machine in 1st person mode, you can get rid of them fast (it's a bit harder, though, since rocket wasps are accurate!). Spam Assassin Warlords/Knight Templars once I have the opportunity, they deal lots of damage and, well, they're awesome! Not to mention circling around Gorillas is especially efficient with these units. I never really liked to use Scavengers (it's very efficient, though, just not my style), so I just search for minerals as fast as I can and build extractor mines everywhere. Try to find the Satellite Uplink and protect it, being able to see the whole map is cool and helpful. It also doesn't trigger event flags, so I can prepare myself for the Ion Cannon flag. Destroy those annoying factories built inside the city once I spot them. I love to trigger event flags before they're supposed to be triggered. That way, I can make Gorillas come a bit faster and then they'll DIE because my infantry will eradicate them (if I use the awesome 1st person mode). After that, the enemy's army will be "slightly" less powerful. Of course, discounting the Ion Cannon flag, which is probably the only headache for me. I don't really build turrets, they're not very useful in Machines (unless your enemy's infantry doesn't use 1st person mode). That's a shame... but the Leviathan turrets are awesome. Never really constructed turrets, anyway, only to win a match against an enemy in Oasis.

      The only mission that was real pain for me was the "Behind the enemy lines" mission. It was fun to figure out how to get the Commander from point A to point B, though.

      Heck, we need to write a community walkthrough.

      yay.gorilla
