Not much, but I like tactical formations!

Working on in-game POV's and how they could be improved for Open Machines (cinematic transitions).
Composition study: (Not much, just testing some Photoshop features.)

The 3rd person view is in this case a ground view:

Probably irrelevant, but eh...
-
@Gameuser10 Wow, it looks awesome! Epic!
I MUST have it as a wallpaper on my desktop!yay.gorilla
-
@Gameuser10
Actually, that's entirely relevant! The quality and size of the image is superior to the ones I can make with my computer. Every time I take a screenshot, its size is just a fraction of the size of my screen. And if I increase the game quality, the size of the window simply shrinks. @Encrypted stated before to have the same issue.Great screenshot!
-
@Pisarz Kinda sorta, yeah... it wasn't really annoying, anyway, all the screenshots I've did were of an awesome quality - my full "Eradicator facing somewhere" screenshot was so beautiful and majestic that I still can't believe I could do something like that - yet, I've lost it...
Still, I agree with you, friend.

@Encrypted
Haha, I love the title.
I'm intending to change some textures/skins in the original game. My first post in this thread has been updated.
-
I uploaded a guide for replacing textures in MACHINES!
http://wiredforwar.org/topic/59/new-textures-skins-for-machines
I used the camouflage of this drone:
I then made this base texture:
And after that, I applied it so that only the details that I wanted from the original textures remain:
Ta-da!

New green (reaper) camouflage!

@Encrypted
I rather managed to solve the screenshot size problem!
By increasing the resolution only the menu gets smaller, but during gameplay, the window increases by said proportion! It was so simple, yet, I didn't even try to play after seeing that the menu shrinked.
-
@Pisarz Whoosh! Same here.
By the way, those camouflages look great! Could you do the same with Gorillas (my favourite units)?yay.gorilla
-
@Encrypted
Yes! I'm planning to change all the textures. Yet, I still haven't identified the textures for the antennae. That's why I took the reapers' backs in the screenshots. -
Experiment using original textures and the warp tool in Photoshop CS6.
These were made for the Assembling Machines thread:
http://wiredforwar.org/topic/62/assembling-machines
The original idea was to make an aerial transport for one specialized unit only, that is too slow/big to move by itself.
This was intended to establish a close relationship between both units due to interdependence.
I made more sketches, but I want to make some sort of portfolio to put everything together.
These designs were discarded, but they evolved into other ideas! -

Reminded me of this.

@bilal
Yes! Almost exactly that. The aerial unit was meant to be more than just transport, but I had to consider the existing designs from the original game. The main issue is the fact that I need to justify said interdependence.If both units are together, the idea is that they should be stronger, yet, one would think about this ("Don't put all your eggs in one basket."):
http://www.quora.com/What-is-the-origin-of-the-saying-dont-put-all-your-eggs-in-one-basket
This would imply that it is better to simply produce more cheaper and faster units and deploy them in a loose staggered formation. In fact, this alternative could be the GESTALT units' worst nightmare.

(sorry about the bee @bilal)
BUT, someone else might say this:
To emphasize this, I present to you... THE TORTOISE SHELL BEETLE:

The GESTALT units would look like this when assembled:

Actually I had a combat unit in mind (not a carrier) that would assemble with two or three units, though each of that units are standalone combat units already if not assembled.
-
@Byrgius
Well, the "carrier" was meant to be also a standalone unit. Brainstorming is very useful. Those drawings have a cargo container because I was thinking about the aerial unit only and needed to put something under it. When I publish the concepts I will include explanations, etc. But don't worry, I understood your idea (I didn't want the Gestalt units to resemble transformers or other existing designs). -
@Pisarz
It will be a gorilla launcher. We'll call it Monkeybars. (lol)
